I built this site to provide quick, reliable answers without the clutter or surveillance that has become common online. My approach is straightforward: this site does not use cookies, does not store any visitor data, and has no third-party trackers of any kind. When you read a brief on people, places, or things, you are not being logged, profiled, or followed.
Because TrueNorthBrief runs without advertising, there is no business incentive to collect your information. I do not use analytics services, social media pixels, or embedded widgets that might send data to external companies. The site is hosted on a standard server, which may keep routine logs for security and maintenance purposes, but those logs are not used to identify individual visitors and are not shared with anyone. The only way you might share personal information with me is by sending an email to sarah@truenorthbrief.com or the general inbox at info@truenorthbrief.com. When you write to me, I see your email address and whatever you include in the message. I use that information solely to respond to your question or comment. I do not add email addresses to any mailing list, and I do not sell or rent them to anyone. If you send a correction or a suggestion about a specific brief, I may use the content of your message to update that entry, but I will not publish your name or email without your explicit permission.
Email is also the best way to reach me if you spot an error. I take accuracy seriously, and my corrections page outlines how I handle mistakes. Since I am the only editor and fact-checker here, every message goes directly to me, and I read each one personally. I aim to reply within a few business days, though if I am busy with a research project or my family, it might take a little longer.
Children and Privacy
This site is intended for general audiences, and I do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because there is no data collection at all, there is nothing to gather from a young visitor who happens to land on a page about Child's Play or any other topic. If you are a parent and you have concerns about your child using this site, please feel free to contact me directly.
Changes to This Policy
If I ever change how this site handles privacy, I will update this page and note the date of the change. Given my current setup, I do not anticipate any changes, but it is good practice to be transparent.
