True North Brief is committed to correcting errors promptly and transparently. When we publish something that is inaccurate, we issue a correction and note the change clearly on the article. Our Standards Desk, led by Rachel Miller, manages all correction requests. If you believe we have made a mistake, please email corrections@truenorthbrief.com with the details.
How do I report an error?
You can report an error by emailing our dedicated corrections address at corrections@truenorthbrief.com. Please include the article headline, the specific error you found, and any supporting evidence or sources. If you prefer, you can also use our general contact form at /about-us/contact/ with the subject line “Correction Request.”
For the fastest handling, send your report directly to the Standards Desk. We ask that you be as specific as possible—for example, “The article ‘Bank of Canada Holds Rate’ incorrectly stated the rate was 4.75% when it was 4.50%.” This helps us verify and fix the error quickly.
Who handles corrections at True North Brief?
Rachel Miller, Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, is responsible for reviewing correction requests at True North Brief. She leads the Standards Desk and works with the relevant editor or reporter to verify the error. For a detailed explanation of our fact-checking process, see our /fact-checking-policy/.
If the error is material—meaning it changes the factual meaning of the article—Rachel ensures that the article is updated with a correction note. The note explains what was wrong, what the correct information is, and the date of the correction. Minor errors, such as typos that do not affect meaning, are corrected without a note, but we still track them internally.
What happens after you report an error?
Once we receive a correction request, the Standards Desk reviews the reported item against our original sources and notes. If the error is confirmed, we update the article within one business day and add a visible correction notice at the top or bottom of the page. For significant errors, we may also issue a correction notice in our newsletter or on social media.
If we determine that no error occurred, we will explain our reasoning to the person who reported it. We take every report seriously and maintain a log of all correction requests and outcomes, which is reviewed regularly by Editor-in-Chief Daniel Campbell.
How quickly will you respond?
Our goal is to respond to every correction request within 24 hours during business days. For urgent errors—such as a material factual mistake in a major story—we aim to acknowledge your report within four hours and issue a correction within the same day. The Standards Desk prioritizes requests based on the severity and reach of the error.
You will receive an email confirmation once your report is received. If you do not hear back within two business days, please escalate your concern to daniel.campbell@truenorthbrief.com. Our /complaints-procedure/ page outlines further steps if you are unsatisfied with the handling.
What if I’m not satisfied with the correction?
If you believe a correction was incomplete or mishandled, you can escalate the matter to Editor-in-Chief Daniel Campbell directly at daniel.campbell@truenorthbrief.com or by phone at +1 613 555 0152. He will review the entire process and determine whether additional action is needed, such as a revised correction or a formal clarification.
For unresolved complaints about our editorial decisions, you may also refer to our /complaints-procedure/ for an independent review process. True North Brief is owned by Great Lakes Press Ltd., and corporate oversight can be reached via publisher@truenorthbrief.com if all other avenues have been exhausted.
What you can expect from us
At True North Brief, every article is reviewed by an editor and fact-checked before publication, but errors can still occur. When they do, we correct them openly and without defensiveness. Our /editorial-policy/ and /fact-checking-policy/ describe our standards in more detail. We never remove an article without a correction notice; instead, we update it and clearly mark the change.
We also track patterns in errors to improve our editorial processes. Our team—including Managing Editor Sarah Mitchell and Markets Editor Michael Foster—uses correction reports to refine training and fact-checking protocols. Transparency and accountability are central to our mission of trustworthy Canadian journalism.
